Pine Forest Education & Learning Center is a 501(c)(3) public charity. Our mission is educational: to preserve and share the cultural history of the Cape Fear Region, with Pine Forest Cemetery as the centerpiece of that work.
We are a volunteer-led organization. Donations are what allow us to conduct research, develop programming, sustain community partnerships, and care for a historic site that holds generations of Wilmington history.

Recording the histories held at Pine Forest Cemetery, including its connections to the 1898 Wilmington Massacre and the legacies of the soldiers, pioneers, and community figures interred there.
Public programming, exhibitions, and educational content that bring these histories to the community, including our partnership with The Black On Black Project.
Restoring access to burial sites, clearing overgrowth, and maintaining the grounds so families, historians, and researchers can continue to visit and learn.
Sustaining relationships with institutions like the UNCW History Department, and building the capacity to take on more of this work each year.

Roots & Remembrance: Restoration is our current campaign to restore access to more than 300 graves at Pine Forest Cemetery. Gifts to that campaign are directed to restoration work specifically.
